The Priveledge of Risk

“Don’t waste a second!” I am continually reminded that my life is guided by 2-forces. One is beyond my control. Beyond comprehension. I try to stay in good graces with that force. I cooperate, welcome, and trust it’s power, but I don’t have much influence. The 2nd force is my free-will. I have the ability and opportunity to move toward or away from my goals.

I watched a tribute filmed at The Comedy Store in LA, to late comedian/actor Bob Saget . Many of his friends including some of the best comics in the world honored his amazing legacy. Someone casually mentioned “Life is short; We can’t waste a second!” I realize that one reason those comedians are successful is because they didn’t waste time worrying about what other people think. They didn’t let obstacles impede their journey; They controlled Force #2; Force #1 obliged!

I am 59 years old. I’ve been performing standup comedy for nearly 10 years. I continually grow and learn, but I don’t take as many chances as I should. My last 2-shows have been built on FEARLESS-RISK. The payoff is amazing! Taking chances and being rewarded by an audience is the greatest feeling I know! When I manipulate Force #2 to its limit of un-comfort, Force #1 floods me with what I can only assume is love!
